There are many ways that I can apply what I've learned this semester to the real world.  I can now explain what the difference is between an amphibian and a mammal.   This is very important because if i see animals walking around i want to be able to know if they are an amphibian or a mammal.
The main differences are mammals can learn.  The folds in their brain allow learned behavior to be stored.  This allows for basically anything and everything man has been able to accomplish.  Amphibians on the other hand undergo metamorphis, which is similar to a teen hitting puberty multiplied by like ten.  An example of such metamorphis is a frog.  The frog begins life as a tadpole, completely dependent on water, living in the water with gills and so forth, then it begins to develop legs and arms.  Eventually, the tadpole has lost its gills and now must live above water.  Eventually it develops into a full blown frog, that is metamorphis.  Another difference is that mammals have hair and fur, such as the hair on your head or the fur on your dog.  Amphibians just have their soft moist skin, which they must keep wet (which is why they are always near water).  The final main difference is that a mammal has a four chambered heart, while an amphibian only has a three- chamber heart.  The mammals four-chambered heart is superior because it is able to keep oxygenated and deoxygenated blood separated which is key to an effective and efficient circulatory system.
Those are the main differences of amphibians and mammals.
